Care plan

The care plan: £50 a month, on top of the build

Domain, hosting, updates, security, backups, one minor change a year and a mailbox. Rolling monthly, 30 days notice, no minimum term, no exit fee.

What is a website care plan?

A website care plan is a monthly service that keeps a site online and current: the domain, the hosting, security monitoring, backups and updates. UK plans run from about £20 to £600 a year for a small site, or more for larger ones. Ours is £50 a month, includes one mailbox and one minor change a year, is optional, and ends on 30 days notice with no exit fee.

We wanted a website that really captured the warmth and personality of our nursery and gave parents confidence in choosing us. The finished website does exactly that. It showcases our setting beautifully, explains what we offer clearly and makes it incredibly easy for prospective parents to arrange a visit or get in touch.

Questions nursery owners ask

Is the care plan compulsory?

It is how the site stays online, so a site needs hosting from somewhere. You can host it yourself or elsewhere; we hand over the files and the domain on request. Most settings keep the plan because £50 a month covers everything a website needs.

What counts as a minor change?

Anything under about 30 minutes: a price on the fees page, a new team member, new opening hours, a policy PDF swapped. Bigger jobs are quoted first.

Can we edit the site ourselves?

Yes. It is plain HTML in a repository you have access to, and we give you written instructions for the common edits. Many managers do fee updates themselves.

Does it cost money to keep a website running?

Yes. A domain is roughly £10 to £20 a year, hosting £50 to £200 a year, and updates and security either your own time or a care plan. Ours is £50 a month and covers the domain, hosting, backups, security monitoring, one mailbox and one minor change a year. It is optional and you can leave with 30 days notice.

How much does a nursery website cost?

A nursery website in the UK costs between about £1,000 and £6,000 as a one-off build, plus £20 to £60 a month to keep it running. Ours are £1,495 for a single setting of up to eight pages, £2,995 for an established nursery and £5,995 for a group of two or more, with a £50 a month care plan on top. Monthly-only offers from £15 to £40 exist, but you usually rent the site rather than own it.

Do we own the website at the end?

Yes. On completion and full payment the files are yours, as plain HTML with no proprietary platform to be locked into. Domains we register go in your name where the registrar allows it, and transfer to you free of charge whenever you ask, including if you stop the care plan.

How long does it take to build a nursery website?

Two to five weeks for a single setting, three to five for an established nursery, four to six for a group. The clock starts when your brief is complete. The slow part is almost always waiting for fees, room details and staff names, so the faster you send those the sooner it is live.
