SEO and AI visibility

SEO and AI visibility for nurseries

Childcare marketing that starts with where parents already look: local search and, increasingly, AI assistants. One optional retainer, two sizes, defined by how many search phrases we work on. AI visibility is included in both, not sold separately.

What is nursery SEO?

Nursery SEO is the work of getting your nursery’s website to appear when a parent searches for childcare near them, on Google and now in AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews. In practice it is a page for each district you draw from, a Google Business Profile kept current, real reviews, and facts written plainly enough to be quoted. UK retainers typically run £300 to £2,000 a month; ours are £497 for ten phrases and £1,997 for fifty.

Google Ads data via DataforSEO, United Kingdom, September 2026. The last two are what nurseries pay to rent one visit from a parent. A local page earns the same visit for nothing.

Why it is one service

The page that ranks for "nursery walthamstow" is the page an AI assistant reads when a parent asks for nurseries near Walthamstow Central. Same page, same structured data, same plain answers. Splitting that into an SEO retainer and an AI retainer is an agency convenience, not a client benefit, so we do not.

Local search

Google Business Profile, the district pages, reviews handled properly, and the phrases parents use for your rooms and hours. The retainer works a fixed list of them and reports on each.

AI answers

Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and the others cite pages that state facts plainly: ages, hours, fees, funded hours, distance from the station. We write and mark up every page so it can be lifted into an answer, and we check monthly whether it is.

Content that gets cited

A guide on funded hours in your borough, a plain explanation of your fees, a page on settling in. Useful pages earn links and citations. Blog posts about Easter crafts do not.

Two sizes, defined by a number

Questions nursery owners ask

Do we need the retainer to get the website?

No. The website is a one-off build with its own care plan. The retainer is optional and separate. Many settings take the site alone.

Why keywords rather than a package name?

Because a number can be checked. You know exactly which phrases are being worked on and can see each one move or not. "Growth" and "Premium" mean whatever the agency wants them to.

Can we cancel?

Yes, 30 days written notice, no minimum term, no exit fee. The pages we built stay yours.

Does this replace Google Ads?

For most single settings, yes over time. The parent-side cost per click in Essex towns runs from about £2 to £6, with top bids over £10 in Billericay, Colchester and Basildon. Ten organic visits a day is a lot of ad spend saved. We do not run ads.

How much does SEO cost in the UK?

Small-business SEO retainers in the UK usually run from about £300 to £2,000 a month. Ours are £497 a month for ten search phrases and £1,997 for fifty, both including AI visibility, both rolling monthly with 30 days notice. Anything charged as a percentage of your revenue, or sold with a ranking guarantee, is worth walking away from.

What are the four types of SEO?

On-page (what your pages say and how they are structured), technical (speed, crawlability, structured data), off-page (links and citations from other sites), and local (your Google Business Profile, district pages and reviews). For a nursery, local does most of the work, because almost every search a parent makes has a place in it.

How long does nursery SEO take to work?

Expect movement on district phrases in two to three months and on the harder town-level phrases in four to six. A new domain takes two to six weeks just to be indexed properly. We report position by phrase every month from the first month, including the months where nothing moved.

How do you advertise your nursery?

Most enquiries start with a parent searching for childcare near a place they already know: a station, a school, a high street. In practical order that means a page for each district you draw from, a Google Business Profile kept current, real reviews from current parents, a fees page a parent can read at 10pm without ringing you, and listings on the directories parents actually use. Paid ads work but are rented: "nursery chelmsford" costs £4.43 a click.

Does it cost money to keep a website running?

Yes. A domain is roughly £10 to £20 a year, hosting £50 to £200 a year, and updates and security either your own time or a care plan. Ours is £50 a month and covers the domain, hosting, backups, security monitoring, one mailbox and one minor change a year. It is optional and you can leave with 30 days notice.
