What the cheap end buys, and does not
A £299 template site is a real website and for a setting with one room and a waiting list it may be enough. What it usually does not include: a fees page structured to the April 2026 guidance, an Ofsted section built for report cards, an embedded Famly or Ovivio form, a page for each district you draw from, or ownership of the code when you leave. The monthly fee is the price of staying on the platform.
The question to ask any provider is "what happens when I leave?" If the answer is that the site stays with them, the build price was a deposit on a subscription.
What the expensive end buys
Above £3,000 you are paying for pages: room pages, district pages, a careers section, a section per setting for a group. Each page that answers a specific parent question is a page that can rank and be cited. That is the whole reason to spend more, and if a quote at that level does not list the pages, ask for the list.
Photography is the other cost. Real images of your rooms with signed consent from parents are worth more than any design decision, and no agency price includes them.
The monthly cost, honestly
Every website costs something monthly: a domain (about £10 to £15 a year), hosting, and someone to keep it working. Template platforms bundle it at £19.50 to £29 a month. We charge £50 a month, stated as additional to the build, and it covers domain, hosting, updates, security, backups, a mailbox and one minor change a year. Search and AI visibility work is separate and optional everywhere, from £250 a month at the freelance end to our £497 and £1,997 tiers.
